History
Originally built in 1903, it was the first building on the east side of the 600 block of South Elm street. According to the fire maps of the time, a few houses had been there previously. The 1913 City Guide lists the first floor as Undertaking & Furniture Manufactures, and the second and third floors as a hotel. The tornado of 1936, which killed 13 folk, took off the third floor, which has yet to be restored. The second floor became apartments while businesses occupy the first floor. In later years Livengoods Country Hams was where Table 16 is now and Trixies Cafe was beside it. Other businesses formally here include Scott Crowder’s Photo studio, Hairdresser Rebecca Pearse with Trixies sister Pearl, North Stain Glass Manufactures, several antique shops &more.
